Now expanded to offer an assortment of runs on two mountains, Arkhyz Resort is unrivaled as the premiere snow skiing/boarding destination in the North Caucasus. Dare devils may lack late in the day for fresh black runs, but beginner and intermediate skiers/boarders will find new adventures around every turn in the trails. Ski school is available from qualified English-speaking instructors if needed before catching the gondola or high-speed lifts.

Finding English speakers at the restaurants at the base of the mountains for lunch or dinner may prove slightly more challenging, but EE’s guides/translators are here to help. Multiple options exist for buffet-style cafeterias with always-active grills, and stand-alone vendors offering a quick bite are available for avids who refuse to accept a pause in the action.

When you finally do come off the slopes, remember that locals in the North Caucasus are eager to display their time-honored cultures – most notably the traditions of hospitality and respect shown to their guests. Expect your cultural exchange with the Karachay people (Arkhyz is also a nearby Karachay village) to provide refreshment no less unforgettable than what you experienced on the snow-covered mountain trails.
