Elbrus Elevation’s Mountain Crafts are homemade products created by the mountain peoples of the North Caucasus.  They reveal generations of traditional craftsmanship largely forgotten in western markets.  This high-quality handiwork reflects time-honored skills honed everyday and passed from mother to daughter, father to son.

EE Mountain Crafts is proud to partner with these master craftsmen in an effort to improve their daily lives and the local community.  Meet our wonderful artisans!

Gusein

“After the army I continued my creative work in an art factory.  I devised new models, forms and ornaments for which I was awarded many prizes.  In 1997, I created a shop with all the necessary machines and materials so now I work from home and support my family.”

Fatima

“I have five children. My husband and I are retired. Although this work is very painstaking, I love what I do. I make the thread which I use to knit. This process, itself, is not simple because it requires time and patience. By purchasing my work you are supporting me and my family.”

Fatima

“I live in Nalchik, Kabardino-Balkaria, in the North Caucasus.  I have three children.  I love to knit.  In our small Balkar community, knitting has been popular since long ago.  Many Balkars begin knitting from a young age.  I make a living from this craft.  By purchasing my work you are supporting me and my family.”
